Access to healthcare is the basic right of any human being, yet this right is often neglected. To fill this gap, 950 treatment kits costing more than Rs. 8.4 million have been donated to date for treatment at the Plasmapheresis project at PIMS (Pakistan Institute of medical science) hospital in Islamabad.
*SMS for Literacy
By the partnering with UNESCO on the 'SMS for Literacy' program, we are engaging the youth to ensure literacy retention, and keep them motivated by sending Urdu SMS educational message/stories to 250 female learners. All this is done with the objective to improve their reading and writing abilities. The result have been quite promising and the program has now entered the second phase. An additional 1000 female learners will be benefiting from the program this year.
*Preventing polio
As the first telecom operator to partner with the polio Eradication Fraternity, we help create awareness of Polio through SMS broadcasts about upcoming immunization drives, send to over 7 million users in high-risk zones across Pakistan. A short code has been established to facilitate the Polio Control Cell in reaching the children who have been missed during the campaign.
*Safe Drinking Water and Hygiene Promotion - USAID
To facilitate USAID in spreading the message of safe drinking water and hygiene to the masses, over 3 million SMS messages were send to targeted areas in the country.
*Handset Recycling
We feel we must play our part in alleviating the pressure on the environment and give back to the people at the same time.Therefore, we initiated a handset recycling program where anyone can drop their old handset and accessories at Mobilink Customer Care Centres, which are either repaired or disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner. Repaired handsets are denoted to the Pakistan Association of the Dear and the disabled Welfare Association.
